Cisco states the CCENT - Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician is a
test that will help you get an entry level network support position. The
CCENT is considered the first step in a successful career in the networking
field. By passing this test, you will have demonstrated the knowledge and
skill to install, operate and troubleshoot a small branch office network
including basic security.

CCENT is a certification in and of itself. It is also test one of the two
test CCNA track. If you are considering taking the Cisco Network Academy,
CCENT would be covered by Classes 1 and 2 of the CCNA program. After
completing the Academy classes 1 and 2, theoretically, you should be
prepared to take ICND1 640-822 and receive your CCENT certification.
